SmartClinics Clinical Advisory Board consists of key opinion leaders within the SmartClinics Group who have significant research and clinical experience in General Practice. The Clinical Advisory Board informs, guides and advises the SmartClinics Management Team on a broad range of important matters relating to the effective performance of SmartClinics. Such strong guidance will enable SmartClinics to continue to provide our team with an environment where we can offer our patients a truly remarkable healthcare experience and maximise our ability to deliver results that are clinically and commercially significant.
Dr. Robert Brown
Dr Robert (Bob) Brown began practicing as a General Practitioner in 1980, following a four-year stint in the Australian Army in Papua New Guinea and Brisbane where he was last posted as a Public Health Doctor on Petrie Terrace. Dr Brown gained his qualifications (MBBS) from the University of Queensland and passed FRACGP in 1984.
Dr Brown devotes a good deal of his ‘free time’ to working within local medical associations as well as the Australian Medical Association (AMA), on a state and national level. Dr Brown was the AMAQ President in 1997-98. He remains involved in the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, after being on the Faculty in the early 1990s.
Dr. Helen Surtees
Dr Helen Surtees graduated from the University of London, and has broad experience in General Practice both in the UK and Australia. She has worked in The Gap since 2009, and has been a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners since 2006. She has a special interest in Child and Women’s Health, and performs Implanon insertion and removal, as well as IUD removals. She is a provider for Yellow Fever immunisations and other travel medicine advice.
Dr Surtees enjoys all aspects of General Practice and has over 20 years experience in this field.
Dr. Frank Occhino
Dr Occhino grew up in the Redlands area. He obtained his Medical and Masters Degrees at the University of Queensland. Dr Occhino spent 2 years in residency at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and 3 months as the Acting Medical Superintendent at Prospering Hospital. He has spent 10 years in private practice in Ayr, North Queensland and 26 years in Corinda, where he currently practises.
Dr. Scott Horsburgh
Dr Horsburgh is a caring and trusted General Practitioner with 10 years experience. For the last three years, Dr Horsburgh has worked at SmartClinics Annerley (previously Annerley Medical Centre). Prior to that Scott worked in Emergency Medicine in multiple locations across Queensland.
Dr. Theresa Armstrong
Dr Theresa Armstrong is an experienced Doctor who consults from SmartClinics Carseldine and Chermside. She grew up in Brisbane and later moved to Sydney to complete her medical degree at the University of Sydney. After completing her study, Theresa joined the Royal Australian Air Force as a Medical Officer, where she was deployed to the Middle East with Australian troops and took part in various humanitarian missions.
Theresa loves working as a Doctor in General Practice; specifically the challenge, variety and privilege of helping people become healthier and happier. As a mum of two young children, Theresa understands the importance of finding the right family doctor who is willing to take a holistic approach to health.
