Dr Annabel Abrahams
After completing her residency in Newcastle, Dr Annabel Abrahams worked as a GP in rural NSW, spending more than 20 years serving the communities of Mudgee and Muswellbrook.
Dr Abrahams relocated to Brisbane in 2007, where she began working at private general practices in Milton, Indooroopilly and Bardon-Rainworth. Dr Abrahams saw many patients at the Women’s Health Clinic in Indooroopilly, where she further developed her skills in women’s health.
Dr Annabel Abrahams has a long-standing interest in women’s health and mental health, with a vast wealth of knowledge in these fields. She regularly updates her knowledge and has maintained continued learning and education throughout her career.
In addition to her capabilities in women’s health, Dr Abrahams has accumulated broad experience over many years across all family medicine disciplines. Dr Abrahams now sees patients at SmartClinics Windsor.
I have been in general practice for over 33 years.
Being a SmartClinics GP is a special and rewarding job. It is an honour to be able to listen to people, hear their needs, diagnose their problems and together develop a plan to assist them in managing their concerns. It is a privilege to share a part of a person’s life journey, to contribute to their wellbeing and knowledge, to be a resource to help them and their families through whatever challenges present.
My top sun safe tip is for adults to model sensible sun protection strategies to our children and the greater community.
Among many things, those that matter to me most as a GP are courtesy, respect, professionalism, wisdom, tolerance and empathy.
During flu season, if you are unwell, stay at home. If you are a manager, as your unwell staff members to take leave.
I encourage my patients to ask about anything and everything. I am here to listen, reflect and help people problem-solve. If I don’t know the answer, I will probably know how to find it.
General practice is a smorgasbord of many challenges and problems. Together, the varied interactions, experiences, disappointments and rewards create a lifetime of valuable memories.
