Dr Eoin Mawe

Dr Mawe graduated from University College Cork, Ireland in 2008.  He then spent the subsequent 5 years working in hospital medicine predominantly working in Paediatrics, the Emergency Department and in Endocrinology, where he managed diabetes, thyroid and other hormonal problems stemming form pituitary gland disease.  He then moved to General Practice in 2013.

Growing up Ireland he has always been a keen sportsman, playing junior international tennis and first grade gaelic football.  From both his personal history of physical injuries and love of sport he developed a keen interest in the accurate diagnosis, management and rehabilitation of physical injuries. In his own time, Dr Mawe loves to travel and explore different cultures and ways of life.  Originally only visiting Australia for a 6 month adventure in 2009, he fell in love with the beachside lifestyle so much, he is still here today.

Dr Mawe strongly agrees with the WHO definition that health is “a state of physical, mental and social well being and not merely the absence of disease”.  The continuity of care available in general practice provides both patients and doctors a unique opportunity for this type of holistic care as well as the ability to focus on preventive measures and non drug therapies before disease occurs. Acknowledging everyone has their own personalities and character traits, he enjoys the challenge of getting to know patients and their families through helping them to manage their health issues in context with their own lives.
