Cosmetic Medicine

A number of SmartClinics GPs are trained in preventative and restorative cosmetic treatments. For those patients who wish to improve their appearance our Doctors offer a wide range of cosmetic services all with proven results.

As with most treatments, results will vary from patient to patient and some treatments may have side effects. Your treating Doctor will discuss these with you in detail when recommending any service.

Acne

Acne treatment consultations will assist in determining the primary cause of each individual’s acne and using our Skin Doctor’s general practice medical knowledge and interest in skin conditions will ensure a highly effective treatment regime will be established.

At SmartClinics Annerley and Alexandra Hills we utilise the following techniques for active acne treatment and scarring management:

– Chemical Peels
– Topical prescription Creams
– Skin management packages specific to Acne

Skin Treatments

Chemical peels are utilised to target a wide variety of skin conditions such as enhancing skin tone and complexion, reducing the appearance of freckles, fine lines, wrinkles and mild scarring, as well as improving some types of acne by decreasing pore size and oiliness of the skin.

Peel Treatments are a unique way to achieve excellent aesthetic enhancement with very minimal downtime. The strength, depth and type of peel used will determine the level of skin peeling, the duration of recovery and the overall result.

Injectables & Anti-wrinkle treatments

During skin ageing and sun damage, the process of collagen, hyaluronic acid and elastin production and turnover within skin layers decelerates. This causes the skin to lose elasticity, smoothness and firmness, which in turn can lead to the development of fine lines and wrinkles.

A safe and highly effective method of cosmetically improving the appearance of wrinkles is through the administration of anti-wrinkle injections. Anti-wrinkle injections can be administered to target wrinkles in the forehead, between the eyebrows and around the eyes.

Dermal filler injections can quickly and effectively improve the appearance of wrinkles and loose skin by increasing the volume and plumpness to various areas of the face. The natural aesthetic results of the tiny dermal filler injections can be noticed instantly after receiving this treatment, with only minimal discomfort or downtime.

Our doctors will develop a suitable treatment plan depending on each individual’s facial anatomy, muscle mass and the desired clinical outcome.

Skin Cancer

Queensland has the highest rates of skin cancer recorded in the world; therefore sun protection is an important issue to be aware of when living in the ‘sunshine state’. Damage from the sun leads to the premature aging of our skin, which in turn can cause wrinkles, pigmentation, age spots, changes in skin texture, and more significantly skin cancer. Therefore, early detection is vital in the management of skin cancer.

Every year 500,000 Australians are diagnosed with skin cancer, with 2,000 skin cancer related deaths annually. At SmartClinics Annerley and SmartClinics Alexandra Hills we offer routine skin check-ups to provide early diagnosis and are able to perform removal of skin irregularities for both medical and cosmetic purpose.
