Medical Termination of Pregnancy

We are here to support women through the early stages of pregnancy — even when that means deciding that continuing the pregnancy isn’t the right choice at this time.

We understand this is never an easy decision. Our team is here to provide supportive, non-judgemental counselling to help you explore your options and decide what’s right for you. We respect and support all choices.

The process includes:

• Counselling to help ensure this decision is the right one for you, and to confirm that a medical termination is safe and suitable in your case.
• An ultrasound to confirm how far along the pregnancy is (medical termination is only an option if the pregnancy is under 9 weeks from the last menstrual period). This also checks that the pregnancy is located in the uterus.
• A blood test to check the level of pregnancy hormone (hCG) on the day the medication is taken.
• Information and education about what to expect after taking the medication, including when to seek emergency care if needed.
• An essential follow-up appointment 2-3 weeks later to ensure the process is complete. A blood test is also required at this time.
