The Government introduced new Bulk Billing Practice Incentive Payments from 1st November 2025. While this is a positive step, the incentive does not cover the full cost of providing high-quality care. Therefore, SmartClinics will continue to charge an appropriate out-of-pocket fee for some consultations to ensure we can keep delivering high-quality care to our community. Please refer to the relevant clinic standard consultation fees list for more information.

Neurodivergence & ADHD Support

Comprehensive Assessment, Diagnosis & Management

SmartClinics provides dedicated support for neurodivergent individuals, with a strong focus on ADHD. The GPs offer detailed assessment, diagnosis, and ongoing management for both children and adults. They can also provide screening for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and a broad range of mental health conditions.

Our approach is holistic and collaborative — working closely with patients, families, schools, and local specialists to ensure coordinated, personalised care at every stage.

New Queensland Changes: Greater Access to ADHD Diagnosis & Treatment

From 1 December 2025, specially trained GPs in Queensland can formally diagnose ADHD in adults and prescribe medication. This significant change aims to improve access to timely care by reducing the long waits and high costs associated with specialist-only diagnosis.

SmartClinics embraces this reform and is committed to providing safe, evidence-based ADHD care under the new framework.

At this stage only SmartClinics Annandale is offering this service to local patients.

What This Means for SmartClinics Patients

  • Faster access to assessment and treatment
Adults can now undergo ADHD assessment and receive medication management directly through qualified SmartClinics GPs.
  • Better continuity of care
Patients can work with a GP who knows their history, improving consistency and coordination across all aspects of their health.
  • Support for complex cases
When specialist input is needed, we continue to collaborate closely with psychiatrists, paediatricians, psychologists, and allied health professionals.

Safety, Training & Best Practice

Queensland’s new model includes structured training and safeguards for GPs to ensure diagnoses and medication management remain safe, appropriate, and aligned with national guidelines. At SmartClinics, we combine this training with a holistic care model that recognises ADHD as more than just medication — incorporating behavioural strategies, psychological support, lifestyle planning, and regular review.

Important Considerations

Not all long ADHD assessment appointments are eligible for bulk-billing, and fees may apply due to the extended time and detailed evaluation involved. SmartClinics will always provide clear fee information ahead of your appointment.

Support Beyond ADHD

Alongside ADHD diagnosis and treatment, SmartClinics provides:

  • Referrals to local specialists when needed
  • ASD screening
  • Assessment for co-existing mental health conditions
  • Behavioural and lifestyle management planning
  • Coordination with schools, workplaces, and support services
