SmartClinics National Support Centre team is comprised of savvy entrepreneurs and industry experts which brings years of experience to a young company.  They cultivate our strong culture, and work tirelessly to help our Group continue to grow throughout South East Queensland, without compromising the high quality healthcare currently provided by all SmartClinics centres.

Steven Dahl – Founder and Executive Director

In 2011 Steven Dahl founded SmartClinics with a vision of making everyday healthcare easier by reducing wait times and improving convenience and accessibility.

Being the father of two sons and a daughter, Steven has experienced first hand how difficult it can be to not only make an appointment with a GP, but then how long you have to wait to get in an see them at the clinic. With his past experience in creating businesses that innovate in traditional industries Steven started SmartClinics with a fresh perspective. Using his business experience and leveraging technology to improve processes, SmartClinics has ambitious growth plans.

Steven loves working with the SmartClinics team to challenge the status quo in primary healthcare and to offer a valued service to patients.

Katherine Baker – Chief Executive Officer

Prior to joining SmartClinics, Katherine held a number of strategic leadership positions in multi-site professional services organisations across the health and construction industries. She is the former founding Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary of National Veterinary Care Limited. During her time at the company Katherine was integral in development and delivery of the core values, strategic plan and operational and financial infrastructure of the business.

Katherine possesses over a decade of professional experience across strategy and finance. Through her experience, she has been involved in the due diligence, integration, and cultural alignment of over 120 acquisitions across Australia.

Katherine is passionate about working with teams to motivate and inspire people to be passionate about the pursuit of excellence for their clients.  She holds a Bachelor of Business from Queensland University of Technology and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Kate Cross – General Manager of Clinic Operations

Kate recently joined the SmartClinics team bringing with her an extensive knowledge and experience of operational management within the healthcare industry across a range of diverse health care models including private, corporate and private equity structures.  Her core strengths align to strategic design, development and implementation of patient acquisition strategies and retention models influencing the overall financial performance.  Kate attributes much of her success to cultivating strong team culture which is based on collegiate, inclusive and authentic engagement and appreciates and understands the success of large and wide range networks require stable and engaged Practice Management structures.

Kerine Nightingale – Human Resources Manager

Whilst studying Journalism, Kerine discovered her passion was in helping businesses succeed through their people.  This passion lead her to pursue a career in recruitment and human resources. She firmly believes that people are the biggest assets and greatest liability in a business and by approaching HR with a practical and commercial mindset,  Kerine focuses on guiding businesses through the legislative landscape to ensure HR practices are appropriate for the business and support the overall strategic goals.

Kevin Whitley – Business Development & GP Recruitment

Kevin joins the SmartClinics team with over 20 years of business development and recruitment experience between the UK and Australia.  For the last 8 years, Kevin has specialised in recruiting General Practitioners across Australia.

Jo Whare – Regional Manager

Jo oversees the operations at a number of SmartClinics Brisbane locations and has been in the medical industry for over 15 years.  She is dedicated to meeting the needs of the doctors, staff and clinics she works with daily. 

Michael Hollis – Regional Manager

Michael has spent the last 28 years in the health industry. He has built a diverse portfolio within Major Hospitals, General Practice and Recruitment. His senior roles within Cardiac ICU, Perioperative Cardio Thoracics, and Heart and Lung Transplants Retrieval Coordination cemented his knowledge in the hospital environment. He then moved into General Practice roles including Clinical Nurse, Chronic Disease Management and Practice Management.  Michael prides himself on offering a comprehensive high-quality service to all clients. He is accessible and professional and builds his practice around excellent communication, and strict moral and ethical principles.

Mellissa Brumley – Regional Manager

Mellissa overviews the operations for SmartClinics’ far north region of practices (Cairns).  She has worked within the medical industry for over 20 years, with the last 15 years spent within management roles. Mellissa’s experience in all types of practices is vast, including specialist, allied health, general practice and radiology.  She has also worked in hospital settings such as mental health and recruitment.  The day to day running of practices is something she particularly enjoys and helps her continue to develop her strong skills in building teams and relationships, training and mentoring, recruitment, practice setups/changes, with a strong emphasis on customer service and liaison.

Suzy Sawdon – Regional Manager

Suzy has recently joined the National Support Centre Team as a Regional Manager from her previous position of Practice Manager at SmartClinics Carseldine.

Rosie Kelly - Regional Manager Support

Rosie has joined the SmartClinics Team after spending many years managing a busy family practice in Clayfield, Brisbane.  She brings with her a wide range of skills and experiences and undertakes a project-based role in assisting the Regional Managers to support our Practice Managers with the day-to-day operational rollout of all our practices so they continue to meet the needs of today’s busy healthcare consumers.

Sarita Fruk – Marketing Manager

Sarita has over 13 years marketing experience across a range of industries, including healthcare where she worked as a Senior Marketing Specialist for four years at Queensland Fertility Group.

Sarita has extensive experience in brand development and an eye for sales and marketing campaigns that deliver tangible results and contribute to the bottom line.

James Tibbetts – Marketing Coordinator

James joins SmartClinics after a 20-year career as a police officer within the Queensland Police Service.  He spent the last 10 years of his career planning the operational coordination and public safety rollouts at some of Queensland’s largest iconic community events, sporting fixtures and outdoor concerts.  He has also supported the community of Queensland numerous times during natural disasters from his operational and planning roles at the State Disaster Coordination Centre.

Prior to serving as a police officer, James attained tertiary qualifications in Marketing and Graphic Design and later on in Event Management and Public Safety.  He is also an Accredited Professional with the Australian Institute of Professional Photographers.

Healthcare has always played a big part of James’ life growing up, mainly through his close association to a large aged care facility where his mother was the Director of Nursing.  At this facility too, James also performed AIN duties whilst completing his tertiary studies.  Considering himself a keen listener, he’s always ready to get ideas from his SmartClinics’ colleagues and then turn them into tangible and creative products.  His marketing role also allows him to work collaboratively with the many stakeholders that also support SmartClinics Marketing daily.

Tracey McNeil – Project Manager

Tracey brings 15 years of project management experience to the SmartClinics team.  Her aptness to head large operations teams is built upon strong stakeholder engagement skills and her expertise in project management and quality systems (ISO 9001: 2015).  Tracey is excited to lead the SmartClinics Project Management Office and looks forward to continuing to contribute to the companies ongoing growth.

Michaela Harlin – Finance Manager

Michaela is a Chartered Account with a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Queensland.  Her experience has seen her previously work for HCA Healthcare Group in London. She is now the Finance Manager for SmartClinics and looks after the accounting and financial reporting for the Company.

Sara-Jane Loxton – Business Analyst

SJ is a new member to the SmartClinics team and will oversee the co-ordination of insights and knowledge taken from our data so we can better support our clinics and continue to deliver the exceptional patient experience we are known for.

Stacey Garrett – Accounts Payable Officer

Stacey is currently completing her Bachelor of Accounting.  This degree was a natural progression for her as she has over 10 years experience working throughout the finance sector in various accounts payable positions.  In her current role with SmartClinics, she enjoys interacting with vendors to ensure all transactions progress in a smooth and timely manner.

Marsha Daskalakis – Payroll Manager

Marsha has recently joined the SmartClinics team as the Payroll Manager.   Having to work with numerous awards and penalties, she is also very aware of the complexities that working within the health industry brings and is always happy to assist our team members with questions which relate to their pay.

Lisa O'Connor – Assistant Accountant

Lisa joins the SmartClinics team after previously working in both Australia and New Zealand as a bookkeeper.  She assists the finance team daily in areas such as ledgers, debtors and doctor pays.

Mariam Kalanzi – Acquisitions / Operations Lead

Mariam is from Uganda and has been with SmartClinics for over two years. She has completed a Bachelor of Business and a Masters of Human Resources Management at Griffith University with experience in the healthcare sector. Mariam assists in the smooth transition of acquired clinics (Pre/post acquisition support) and overall day to day HR/Operations of SmartClinics’ centres.

Casey Green – Product Specialist - HealthMax

Casey joins the National Support Centre from our Chermside Family Medical Centre.  She is ready to assist you with all questions relating to HealthMax.

Monique Paddock – Product Specialist - HealthMax

Monique is a trainer of our SmartClinics team, assisting them to migrate to our HealthMax Product as well as providing HM Product support via the freshdesk.
